PRIMARY FUNCTION
This is an intermediate level Microsoft SQL Server database administrator position that is responsible for supporting database activities including design, strategy, development, performance tuning and maintenance. The tasks will be performed in conjunction with development initiatives and solutions, as well as, the implementation and ongoing support of deployed third-party software.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Design and Technical Leadership
- Provides strategic and tactical guidance and technical leadership to the company.
- Designs and documents data models.
- Designs, implements, and optimizes relational database components.
- Designs, implements, and supports advanced platform features such as replication, clustering, and other high-availability extensions.
Coding and Tuning
- Works in conjunction with software development to provide database support throughout the software life cycle, including SQL creation and optimization.
- SQL data manipulation and data definition script authoring.
Administration, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting
- Maintains and upgrades database hardware and software.
- Schedules and monitors the maintenance and backups of all databases.
- Hands-on database management, ETL processing, data conversion and manipulation. SSIS experience necessary.
- System and application performance monitoring, benchmark establishment, and capacity planning.
- Ensures database availability and security.
- Manages test and production environments setup, coordination, and migration strategies.
- Advanced troubleshooting of database platform, SQL, and related application issues.

| Years of Work Experience: |  | 4+ years of supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases and applications in an enterprise application environment.
4+ years of professional business systems development (analysis, design, and programming) experience, preferably in a complex systems environment. |
| Degrees Required: |  | University or College Degree |
| Designation(s): |  | Professional database administration certification (MCDBA) preferred |
